GENERAL HEATH CHECK - Every pet receives a General Health Check (GHC) by our attending vet. This includes eyes, ears, lungs, heart, and mouth. The GHC only guarantees the heath of the pet at the time of the check. RBARI is not responsible for medical bills should the pet become sick after adoption. Due to already high medical bills - dogs and puppies are not tested for Heartworm, and Cats under 6 months are not tested for Feline Aids or Leukemia.

VACCINATIONS - All dogs receive DHLP-P, Bodoratella, & RV. All cats receive FVRCP & RV. (depending on age at time of adoption)

WORMING - All animals are tested for intestinal parasites and wormed before adoption.

SPAY / NEUTER - All dogs and cats over 6 months are spayed or neutered. (It is the responsibility of the adoption to spay or neuter a puppy or kitten if adopted under 6 months of age. RBARI adoption counselors will provide you with Low Cost S/N information at the time of adoption.)

LEUKEMIA & AIDS TEST FOR ADULT CATS - All adult cats are tested for Leukemia and Aids before the time of adoption

MICROCHIP - All pets over 6 months of age are microcipped before adoption. Any pets adopted under 6 months of age are allowed to come back for a FREE microchip at 6 months of age. Microchipping is a permanent way to identify you pet should he or she be lost. There are no collars or tags to get lost or fall off. Each microchip has a number specific to that chip, and thus your pet. The microchip stores your pet’s information (name, age, breed etc) and your contact information, as well as your pet’s veterinarian’s name and phone number. Every vets office, animal shelter and Animal Control Officer have scanners on hand ready to check lost pets for microchips. For more information on how microchipping works click here.

TEMPERAMENT TEST - Every dog over 6 months receives a temperament evaluation by one of our on staff trainers. This test helps us to determine the personality of the dog. After the test the trainer will make training recommendations and outline the ideal home for the pet. THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE of the pets behavior. It is used as a guideline for placing the dog in a home. RBARI is not responsible for behavior of the pet after adoption. It is the adopters responsibility to follow training suggestions made at time of adoption and to take appropriate & humane action to correct any problems that develop after adoption.

OPTION OF CRATE RENTAL - Anyone adopting a dog or puppy has the option of renting a crate for a small rental fee.

INFORMATION PACKET - Every pet is sent home with a personalized packet of information about that pet and its specific health and/or training needs.

3 DAYS OF FOOD - In order to help ease the new pet into the home RBARI sends home all adopters with a minimum of three days worth of food that pet has been eating so that new parents can slowly wean the pet onto new food.
