PLANNED GIVING

You can make a gift to RBARI in your Will, or Living Trust, which will provide an unlimited tax deduction for your estate. A Will can name RBARI as a direct beneficiary for a specific sum of money or a specific asset (such as shares of stock) or real estate.

The gift to RBARI can be an outright gift or RBARI can be named as a residuary beneficiary (RBARI would receive the balance of a trust after specific amounts have been paid to other beneficiaries). You can add RBARI to your existing Will through a codicil, without rewriting your Will. The following is a suggested form for bequests in your will:

"I give and bequeath to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. (RBARI), a not-for-profit corporation, with principle offices at 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436, the sum of $_________ to be used for general purposes (or for a specific purpose indicated)".

LIFE INSURANCE

Your existing Life Insurance policy, paid-up or new, can be used to make a gift to RBARI. Generally, to receive an immediate tax deduction, the policy should be transferred to RBARI as owner and beneficiary. You remain the insured. Specific information regarding tax deductions should be referred to your own tax consultant
