While many Jersey residents battled quarantine fatigue, their desire to give an animal in need a safe home remained strong through the summer, noted Megan Brinster, executive director at Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge Inc. (RBARI).

“From March of 2020 to September of 2020, we have adopted out/fostered over 400 animals, which is about 100 more than we adopted out/fostered during that same time period in 2019,” Brinster said.

PATERSON, NJ – A severely injured dog found on Route 20 in Paterson is continuing to recover at Oradell Animal Hospital.

Picked up on Nov. 29 by a Good Samaritan after likely being struck by a car, the female yellow Labrador was unable to walk or stand and rushed to the hospital, where veterinarians discovered she had a fractured pelvis, arthritis and a mammary tumor.

OAKLAND, N.J. - A disabled and dangerously overweight Chihuahua abandoned on the side of a highway in New Jersey in the spring has found a new home after months of medical care, exercise, and attention.

The dog, dubbed Stanley, was found inside a box on Route 80 in Paterson in March.

A story that started with heartbreak has officially ended in a happily ever for Stanley the 9-year-old Chihuahua.

In May, Stanley was found abandoned in a crate along Route 80 in bad shape. He was 22 pounds, over twice the weight of an average chihuahua, which caused his legs to buckle, leading to deformities that took away his ability to walk.
